Modern-Day Fairy Tale

Once upon a time, a sad girl met a boy who saved her and they lived happily ever after.
I wish that’s the story I could tell you, but that’s not the kind of story we painted.

I used to dream about my modern-day fairy tale, but now I have nightmares about our tragedy.
We didn’t fight the protagonists; instead, we listened to them.
We didn’t know how to smash through the walls, so we turned our backs and pretended they didn’t exist.
The dragon burned our castle to the ground and the lava that flowed to protect our bodies invaded our veins and coursed hot and angry through our hearts.
Our three wishes were cursed and our fairy godmother was actually a witch.
When you swept me off my feet you dropped me and I fell.
You didn’t save me, you destroyed me.

I know its crazy, weird, and bad, but honey understand the beauty of your finger nails is as precious as the peace within your heart.
Just know with and without is synedoche.
