Wouldn’t it be nice?

Wouldn’t it be nice to have someone
Who knows without you telling them,
Every scrape carved into your heart,
The number of notches on your spine,
The shades of the blue on your knees,
And why you feel brittle and cold, like
The missing piece of a glass jigsaw

Wouldn’t it be nice to have someone
Strip you of all your too-wide smiles,
Forced giggles and cherry stained hair
Unravelling why, you wished on stars,
When you were seven years old and why,
You prayed and counted eyelashes and
Why you don’t even want to try any more

Wouldn’t it be nice to have someone
Scrape out all the lonely and bitter,
Lurking in the crevices of your mind,
Whisper poems into your mouth and say,
That you are not beautiful, and that, no,
You were not made to be called beautiful,
That you are more, you are celestial

Wouldn’t it be nice to have someone
To chase sunsets with while laughing,
And twining fingers with them and then
Lighting up the skies with matchsticks
And intoxicating each other without ever
Sipping icy wine or campfire vodka poison,
And just drowning in yourselves for a moment.

But then I think of heartaches and lies,
Broken promises, cheating and cruel words,
And couples that cling to eachother like
Rafts in an ugly, ugly storm of tears
And I think,
Would it really be nice?

  1. It would be nice . indeed . had that been the case with everyone world would have been more beautiful place. But its just that sometimes we need to express it more to reach out to our dear ones . its a beautiful poem dear.
